Bio for Joan Runnheim Olson, M.S. 

Nontraditional Careers Expert

Joan Runnheim Olson is founder of Pathways Career Success Strategies, LLC and provides one-on-one career coaching and workshop training. For nearly 15 years, Joan has worked in various venues to encourage nontraditional career paths for males and females. As a project coordinator for a Dept. of Labor grant, she moved more women into the auto service industry as auto service technicians, aka mechanics and service advisers. As an assessment/placement specialist for a pre-apprenticeship training program for women, Joan helped women break into and succeed in male-dominated jobs in the trades. 

Joan presents workshops, keynotes, and break-out sessions throughout the U.S. to secondary and post-secondary educators, administrators, counselors, student support services staff and others providing strategies to recruit and retain students in classes and programs which prepare them for nontraditional careers. She also presents workshops and coordinates events for students to raise awareness of the many benefits of nontraditional careers. 

For 7+ years, Joan served as a career expert to for several message boards including “Women in Nontraditional Careers,” “Women at Work” and “Managing and Leading Others.” She is an independent career coach and coach trainer. Joan is a contributor to “WorkSmarts: Be a Winner on the Job” with a chapter titled, “Time for a Change? Why Not Consider a Nontraditional Career?” which was published in 2012.

Joan earned a Master of Science degree from University of Wisconsin-Stout, Menominee, WI. She also received a Bachelor of Science from Mount Senario College in Ladysmith, WI. Joan’s certifications include: ICF Associate Certified Coach (ACC), Certified Leadership & Talent Management Coach (CLTMC), Certified Career Management Coach (CCMC), Certified Five O’Clock Club Career Coach, and Certified 360Reach Analyst..
