Fearless Living

Is fear keeping you from achieving your goals? Do you dread getting up for work on Monday morning? Are you in a job search, but not getting offers? If you've answered "yes" to any of these questions, this article is for you!

This past weekend I attended a workshop on Fearless Living by life coach, author, and TV personality, Rhonda Britten. Britten served as a life coach on the television show, "Starting Over" and will serve that same role on "Celebrity Fit Club" which begins airing next month. Feeling guilty, which is a form of fear, for her father murdering her mother and then killing himself when she was 14 years old, Britten struggled with depression, alcoholism, and numerous suicide attempts. Twenty years later, she made the decision to work on her own emotional fears and then help others. She is traveling across the country, sharing her experience and knowledge with in an attempt to create a Fearless America and ultimately a Fearless World.

My goal in taking the workshop was to rid myself of some emotional fears that I feel are preventing me from achieving what I really want in a few different areas of my life.

What fears are holding you back?

Fear can come in many forms. Do you say to yourself....
1) I can't do that.
2) I'm too old.
3) I'm not smart enough.

4) I can't believe I did that.

5) I'm just too busy.

I encourage you to purchase the book "Fearless Living" by Rhonda Britten and the "Daily Training Manual" by the Fearless Living Institute. The manual is a 10-week program in which you record:

1) Your intention statement for the day.
2) What you are grateful for that day.
3) What you acknowledge yourself for that day.
4) What you did to practice loving yourself.
5) Insights you gained that day.

6) Account for each 1/2 hour of your time each day.

These exercises are designed to keep you focused, get you out of complaining mode, stop using excuses, and release yourself from expectations of yourself and others. Also, you will see how you're spending your time. This can be a huge eye-opener! Whether you want to move up, move forward, or move on in your career, using your time effectively can either make that happen or not.

At the workshop on Saturday, several attendees who had completed the daily training manual found it to be a life-changing experience. Last night as I was reading "Fearless Living" and recording in my daily manual, light bulbs were flashing like crazy. This insight will help me move past my fears and achieve my goals. And it can for you too! In doing the work, Britten purports it will allow you to "Live the Life Your Soul Intended."

Whether fear is keeping you from finding a career that's more satisfying, keeping you stuck at a company at which you no longer enjoy, keeping you from getting paid what you're worth, or keeping you from advancing in your career, Britten's books and exercises can help.
